Laura's interest in dance and stagecraft is a lifelong passion. Her journey to becoming an accomplished tribal bellydancer and teacher started as a traditional Irish dancer at four years old and acting, singing and choreographing with the Derry based Limelight Theatre company from age 11. Laura has always had dancing in her soul.
Her first experience of American Tribal Style Bellydance was in Dublin, dancing with Wendy Marlatt formerly of FatChanceBellyDance and Second Skin in 2002. Laura trained with Wendy and went on to become one of the founding members of RASHANI.
After moving to London in 2004, Laura continued her training & practice as a tribal bellydancer, becoming a member of the dance collective Luma Tribal and in 2007 forming London's first ATS troupe, MOIRAI with Philippa and Jesse.
Since her return to Dublin, Laura achieved her ATS Teacher certification from Carolena Nericcio, director of FatChanceBellyDance becoming Ireland's first FCBD ATS certified teacher.
Laura has learned from and danced with some of the finest innovators of the dance idiom, including Kathleen Crowley of Saaidi, Deirdre McDonald of Gypsy Caravan, Donna Gardner and Lezlie Hogg of Pedralta, and Samantha Hasthorpe of Bellydance Superstars, Heather Stance of Urban Tribal, Olivia Kissel, Megha Gavin of Devyani, Carolena Nericcio, Jill Parker and Rose Harding of Ultra Gypsy, DOMBA!, The Uzumé, Geneva Bybee, Rachel Lazarus Soto and MOIRAI.
